Haulage!

I've been ordering quite a few things online the last couple of months and finally most of my stuff is here.

I really liked the NYX 10 colour palette I tried so I thought it was about time to try some more NYX products. This is what I got from Cherryculture.com

I actually only needed the Shadow insurance primer, but saw this cute kit on asos.com. I had been thinking about trying out some more too faced products so this was too good to resist. It's called "the look of love".

I've been liking Hard Candy products lately so I had to try some more things.

I also have a large Elf haul on the way and I have recently recieved some Sleek products I ordered. Unfortunately my Sleek palette arrived broken and the seller won't reply my e-mails, so I will put that on hold for now.

So I think I should be set for the rest of the year lol. I will be doing a makeup ban until december as I probably can't resist going a little crazy in december lol (only banning makeup this time) I'm pretty sure I will not run out of things to review, if I do run out I have a few other things up my sleeve for you guys.

I will be doing a series of brand reviews where I give you my opinion on some different brands and their most raved about products, I will also show you my personal favorites and my least favorites. First up will be Elf, then probably Hard Candy working my way towards NYX, Toofaced etc. So stay tuned.

Small update

So I have a few things going on at the moment: Moving to a completely new town, been sick and working my butt off. So I have not been posting as much lately as I would have liked to, and it will probably be a week or two before I will be able to post frequently again.

I have a lot in store for you guys, giveaways, hauls and so on. I may post a few hauls soon, but reviews will have to wait a litte for now.

I hope you understand.

Love Alpha frozen eye jelly review

When I came across this strange little product on the KKCenterHK website I just had to try it out. I don't own anything similar to this, so I gave it a shot.

I bought the shade 03 - rose pink.

Price: 3,30$

Packaging:  I have to admit that the packaging also drew me a bit to this product. I was surprised to see that the packaging is actually even cuter in real life. It's a clear plastic container with a cute decorative silver lid with inscriptions on the side. It seems sturdy and will look good on any makeup table.

This is a shimmery glitter gel with super fine glitters. It goes on sheer but with tonnes of baby pink sparkle. Some of you may know how much I hate glitter, so I have no clue why I thought I needed to buy this.
But I'm really glad I did. The problem with most glittery eyeshadows is that the glitter won't stay in place and ends up all over my face. Not this jelly. It goes on wet with a nice cooling feel to it and dries up once applied. Once it's dry it's not going to budge, it won't flake or crease.

I tried this over my eyeshadow to see if it would interfere with the shadow. It glides on nicely on top of the eyeshadow without blurring or smudging the colour underneath. And I find that it helps the eyeshadow stay put longer. So I'm quite impressed with that.

I also thought I would try it on my lips. I blended it with some gloss and it worked really well, the glitter is super fine and I could not feel it on my lips at all. So this is nice if you want to add some sparkle to you gloss or balm.

I also used a small liner brush to greate a shimmery liner. It works quite well that way too. However, this is a very sheer product so don't expect "in your face" glitter liner.

I only have one negative thing to say about this product. It smells horrible! I hate to say it, but it smells like one of those alleys where all the drunks stop to pee... yeah, not nice. The smell does go away quickly but it still feels a little strange to put something with that smell on the face.

I think it's an awesome product for the price and I think I may look into some bolder colours in the future. Hopefully they will have changed the scent by then. If you could live with the strange scent, then I would totally recommend this product.

Yanqina mascara from KKCenterHK

I was sent this mascara to review from the lovely store KKCenterHK, I was really excited to try it out as I have never tried a 2 step mascara like this before. I have tried double ended mascaras but I had never tried anything like this. I know a few brands out there have been making their own variation of this kind of mascara and I have been wanting one for a while now.

Price: 19,80$ wich to me is quite a lot for a brand I don't know, but it's actually quite normal in Denmark for a mascara to cost around 20$ .

Packaging: Classic mascara tube, but with two caps that twists open instead of one. It's like getting 2 mascara wands in 1. The wand in step 1 seems a little more flimsy and skinny than step 2. the wand is a traditional type of wand, no rubber or combs here. You get 11ml or 0,4fl. oz. wich is roughly about 3 ml more than a regular mascara So far I have no complaints about the packaging it seems to be sturdy and work well.

It's quite a smart little invention. Step one combs through your lashes to seperate them and adds a small amount of mascara, step 2 lets you build up the mascara nicely. I have a bad habit of overapplying mascara because I'm trying to comb them out with the same wand. I love step 1 for combing out my lashes. It's not the most volumizing mascara I have tried but it certainly keeps your lashes seperated and clump free. I also think it lengthens a bit.

The formula is quite good too. I like that it does not make my lashes stiff or dry, they still feel nice and soft. It feels light and does not weigh down my lashes.

It claims it won't smudge or flake and that it's water resistant yet easy to remove.I have not been using it long enough to really tell how well it stays on, but I have had no problems with flaking or smudging. I find it just as easy to remove as any other mascara that isn't waterproof. It does seem to be water resistant and I think it will be cry proof ( haven't really cried, but tried with some warm water and it did not budge)

I would say that this is a great mascara to have. I'm really finding the 2 steps quite useful and I'm quite pleased with the quality. The only thing that would probably stop me from repurchasing is the price. I'm always looking for the best mascara at the best price, and while this definately makes my top 10, I still feel that there may be some cheaper alternatives I have yet to discover.

What is your thoughts of 2 step mascaras like this? have you tried the Yanqina mascara?

A little update.

Hey lovelies. Heres is just a little update about things to come.

1. I really liked doing the alien look yesterday, and I'm currently serching the web for cool ideas. So look out, there may very well be some new looks coming soon. Let me know if there is anything in particular you want me to try.

2. Ok.. So I'm a redhead now, wich means I have to rethink my makeup routine completely. Cooler toned eyeshadow and pink blush was what suited me best. I have to be careful with those shades now as they can make me look overdone. After the change of hair colour I find that warm brown, bronze, gold and copper eyeshadow suits me very well. I have never really bought warm shades (on purpose anyways) So I don't have a lot of those shades. I never cared for coral or orange/peachy blushes, but now these are the blushes that suits me the best. My milky pink lipstick has been replaced with a nude brown colour.. and so on. It's actually nice to use some of those things that never really suited me, and I'm trying to talk myself into getting the Urban Decay naked palette... BUT I do kinda miss being able to wear pink as this really is my favorite colour. It's not that I can't wear it at all, I just need to approach it a little different. I am bound for some bad makeup bloopers in the next xouple of weeks lol.

3. I have a few hauls coming soon. A cherry culture haul with a lot of NYX goodies, An Asos.com haul, where I bought the Too Faced Look of Love set. Also I'm currently waiting for me sleek palette and another Hard Candy haul. Unfortunately these were all placed before my hair blooper. So I will have to see how the colours will work for me.

4. I have been short on giveaways and posts lately. I'm moving in with my boyfriend soon, and since I'm only home at night every other day I have been busy packing and organizing. This will get better. Promise.

That's all for now, I hope you have had a fantastic weekend. I may do a little haul/review later tonight.

I got inspired.

I got  inspired to finally do a look by seeing the lovely OPI Junkie's post on a candy faíry look. She is always so creative and I have been thinking about posting some kind of makeup look for a long time, but never got around to it. So finally I decided to do this kinda purple alien look. I know there's a lot of pictures but I just couldn't choose between them. Enjoy.

I know I need more practise, It's my first time trying this and I was kinda quick about it but this will have to do for now. I hope you can see past the bad lighting and sloppy application. I actually really like this look, kinda wish every day was halloween.

Redhead by accident!

So today has been a rollercoaster of emotion for me... I did not know I cared that much about my hair before my hair dresser accidently made it go green and crunhy. I have had black hair for quite a while now and wanted to go back to my natural hair colour. I knew this was an impossible task, so I was fine with just getting some of the black out and let time do it's job. So my hair dresser told me that I could get it to a nice brown, no problem... she just had to bleach it a bit. At first we did try to pull out some of the colour without bleaching, no results. Then she started bleaching and whoopsie! My hair turned green and crunchy... She gave me 2 options, she could either cut ALL my hair off or she could try a colour over the greeen, but she said that it would probably still look green after that. Unfortunately she was about to close for the weekend so I was told to come back next saturday to try and save the hair.

I cried all the way home with frizzy green hair flying all over the place. Maan that was the longest walk home ever! I decided that my hair was not to be cut off so I would have to try my best to nurture it and get that green to disapear. I bought a coloured conditioner from my hairdresser and went to work on my mossy brassy hair. It actually turned out really well. So now I'm a redhead, and I actually think it suits me quite well.

My hair is still ruined and the colour is very uneven but hey, it's better than green hair. So I'm actually quite happy that I don't have to live with green hair or have to do a "Britney".

excuse the red lips in the first pic, I was busy trying on different colours to see what would suit my new hair. I still really really want to get back to my natural hair colour, but I guess I will have to wait. This colour conditioner only lasts for about 3 washes before you have to reapply, so maybe I should just use that until the ruined hair has been trimmed away and then see what happens. It is actually more intense wine red in real life, the camera kinda makes it look darker and more brownish red.

So I'm somewhat happy again. I only wish that my hair dresser would have asked me about what I have been colouring my hair with before she started bleaching.

Products I regret buying

I always have a hard time doing these types of posts, as I either forget about the products I don't really like or feel that they are almost not worth mentioning. You may disagree with me, but these are just things that did not work for me, or I don't find myself reaching for that often.

Gosh long lasting lip marker: This isn't a bad product, I guess I'm just not really a fan of lip stains. I some times have very dry lips and this just feels odd when I try to put a gloss over it. I have probably only used it twice.  Just don't like lip stains I guess.

Elf Eyeliner & Shadow stick: Now the reason I don't like these are mainly because of the cream shadow. I just don't like the colouring and I don't like how it applies. The liner side is actually quite nice, however the purple liner stained my lids and my lashes. So for a few weeks now my lashes have been purple, not really the look I was going for. Ofcourse it's not noticible as I always wear mascara, but I just don't feel like putting something like that on my eyes. So again not that bad of a product, just not right for me.

Elf Primer and Liner sealer: I don't care for the primer side, it looks yellow on my eyes and actually makes my eyeshadow crease even more. I have tried using a lot, a little and almost nothing but it just does not work for me. The liner side seems like a great product, however I do feel that the quality of the felt tip could be better. After just a few uses it's pretty much ruined. So I would have prefered a liner brush instead as I find them easier to clean without ruining them.

That's it for this time. If you have tried any of these products then please let me know what you think.

Urban Decay 15th anniversay palette review

YAY so I finally got this in the mail. I was so excited to open it and try the shadows on. This will just be a quick show and tell seeing as there are probably hundreds of reviews of this palette already.

The packaging looks really pretty. It's a beautiful gunmetal grey shiny  box with ornaments on the sides. It comes in a burgundy/purple velvet box "thingy" It just looks really luxe! However this collects fingerprints like there is no tomorrow. And I do find the whole box to be a little annoying. It's pretty but not that handy. Right now I don't have a proper makeup table so I fear that this will not be reched for as often as it would if I had some place nice to put it. It's just not that convenient, but let's face it, that's not why I bought it ;)

I'm mostly into nude shades so I wasn't really sure how I would like this palette. But I actually find 10 out of the 15 shadows to be very wearabke for every day use. I feel like I get 10 super unique nudes that I can certainly work with, and then 5 stunning bold colours that I can play with. So I am quite positive that I can get some good use out of this palette. I think the colours are very well coordinated.
Here is a quick look at the piece of cardbox that shows the different shades and names.

These shadows are true to Urban Decay quality and pigmentation however I do find some of them to be a little powdery at first, I feel that this has gotten better once they have been swatched and used a few times. Upon swatching the black shade called Blackout I found myself a bit dissapointed, it just seems a bit chalky. However I do think all these shadows apply really well when using my brushes. I Know that "tainted" has gotten some negative reviews, I have to disagree with those reviews. I totally love the pretty lavender with the golden sheen! I do think that the darker shades are better than the lighter shades but overall I'm still impressed with the pigmentation and texture of these shadows. They are all pretty shimmery/metallic except from "blackout" I think a few more mattes would have been nice but still love these colours. They are unlike any other eyeshadow I own.  (click image to enlarge).

So this is not the perfect palette, the shadows are perfect but the packaging - however pretty - is not the easiest to work with. I would certainly recommend this palette. It is a bit more pricy than what I would normally spend ( I think it's 55$ on urban decays website, I paid about 80$ wich was the cheapest I could find that shipped to Denmark) But if you do the math, you are getting 15 full size eyeshadows for 55$ instead of the 15-17$ one full UD eyeshadow retails for.

What are your thoughts on this palette? already got it? going to get it? let me know.

NYX Champagne & Caviar palette review.

I have been wanting this palette for so long now. Ever since the wonderful OPI Junkie posted about it on her blog. I have no idea why I haven't gotten around to buying it before now. But man am I glad I did...

Price: I bought mine from the lovely El-potatoe for about 16$ but you can get them at Cherryculture for about 8$ but I would have had to pay 11$ for shipping from cherry culture. So I think I got a great deal on it.

Packaging: Nice sleek, black palette. I love how it just fits right in my makeup bag or my purse. It's a bit smaller than I thought it would be without getting less products (if that makes sense). And you get a really good sized mirror as well.

I am super impressed with these eyeshadows. They are soft, blendable and pigmented. The quality reminds me of Too Faced eyeshadow, it even has the same scent to it as Too Faced does. I actually like the texture of these shadows better than Too Faced, but Too Faced shadows are more pigmented (only a tiny bit tho).

So I think this is the best quality eyeshaodw for the price, that I have ever tried. It's simply amazing!

I'm really into neutrals so I just love the colours in this palette, however I do think some of the colours in this palette are pretty similar. You get both satin and matte shades, no glitter... YAY! However I think this palette could have used a pale beige colour and maybe one more deep shade. So I think they could have done better when it comes to variety but overall the quality is amazing.

I find that these lasts quite well with a good primer. They do fade on me a tiny bit without primer, but they don't crease as much as other affordable eyeshadows.

I am so so so pleased with this palette, and I can see myself using this every single day. Actually I have used it every single day since I got it. I would definately recommend it and I will be looking into some more NYX items very soon.
These are swatched without the use of a base or a primer, just bare skin! My camera makes them look a little more cool toned than they actually are.

Hard Candy Hide & Glow cheek tint

I thought this duo cheek stain looked really interesting, so I had to try it out. I'm normally not really that into cheek stains, but I have become a lot fonder of anything blush related lately so why not give these a try.

Price: I believe I paid 10$ at the lovely El-potatoe ebay store.

Packaging: I really love Hard Candy packaging, it's pretty and girly. Normally I think Hard Candy is VERY generous when it comes to how much product you get, NOT this time. You only get a tiny amount of product.

I really hate this product! I want to like it, I really do. The colours look soo pretty, until you swatch them and nothing shows up on your skin. I'm really pale and these do not show up on my skin very well? By layering them a bit I can get some colour to show up but... they are extremely greasy too. This is just a really really bad product. Maybe if you have super white and extremely dry skin this may be right for you, but otherwise I would not recommend this to anyone ever!

Oh I feel so bad about trashing a product from a brand I have actually grown quite fond of. But honestly who needs a greasy oily invisible blush? I'm actually quite happy now about the amount of product you get. I believe in using up my products, even the bad ones and it's way easier to do when there isn't a lot of product to begin with lol.

Have you guys tried these cheek tints? what do you think about them?

Hard Candy Moon Glow powder review

I got this in my recent Hard Candy haul, I wanted a face powder with a hint of glow to it, so I thought this was worth trying out.

Price: 11$ from the lovely ebay seller el-potatoe.

Packaging: Super cute packaging as with all Hard Candy packaging. I love that you get a mirror and a cute heart shaped sponge in the compact. It seems like a sturdy compact and therefore good to travel with. However it is a bit bulky, but not too much.

Ok I really have a love/hate relationship with this powder. I love the texture of it, how long it lasts how it does not look patchy or cakey and the cute cute packaging it comes in. BUT what completely ruins it for me is all the glitter. I knew this would not be a matte powder but I was expecting a pearly kind of glow not straight up glitter! Ok so the glitter particles seem to be very finely milled but still, it's waaay too much for a face powder.

This could be used as a glittery highlighter or a glittery body powder. Don't get me wrong the powder is of great quality and it's very pretty, but I look like a golden disco ball if I try to wear it as a setting powder.

So I guess the reason why I'm not too happy about this product is, because I was expecting something completely different. If you are looking for a nice golden shimmery powder to use as a highlight then go ahead. If you are looking for that dewey finishing powder then keep on walking.

So I will try and use this as a highlighter and when it's done I won't be repurchasing. This powder would have been perfect without the glitter bits. I'm thinking about trying their matte powder, hoping it will be somewhat the same just without the sparkly fireworks and disco balls coming out of my face.

Urban Decay 15th anniversay palette!

Just wanted to do a quick post, letting you guys know that I will be reviewing this awesome palette. I ordered it from the lovely ebay seller El-potatoe and right now I am just waiting for it to arrive... Oooh I can't wait. I have been wondering if I shouldget it or not but finally I just broke down and bought it.

Do you guys have it or are you planning on getting it? I just love Urban Decay eyeshadows so I can't wait to try these out!

Loevens.

Pixi Wakeup palette.

As some of you may already know, I love love love palettes. I don't know what it is about them but I just looove exploring new palettes and playing with them. I got this off Ebay a while back and for some reason just never got around to reviewing it.

I got this for around 18$ off ebay and paid 9$ in shipping so I think it was quite a steal.

Packaging: I'm not really too keen on the packaging, mostly because it's just not my style, I dont't like green and I'm not that into cardboard palettes. I do like the layout of this palette and I love the big mirror it has. The cardboard is a little on the soft side so my palette already look quite used as I have been traveling with it (I won't do that again). The moisture from some of the products has soaked into the cardboard, wich doesn't really matter much bit it just looks a little gross, like it's wet or have grease stains. It does not come with any liners or brushes wich would have been nice, seriously I have no idea why that even matters to me as I normally tend to loose the brushes anyways, but for some reason it matters in this case. It would have at least been nice if there was room for a few of my own brushes. So overall not crazy about the packaging but oh well.

You get 2 eye primers/concealers, 18 eye shadows 2 cheek powder duos and 8 lip glosses.

I really like the cheek powders, the texture is nice, they are not overly shimmery but not matte either and the colours are really pretty. The dark brown one (looks a little too red in the picture)  can be used for contouring and the two light shades are great highlighters, the pink blush is just beautiful with a little golden sheen to it.

I'm also quite impressed with the lip glosses. Normally I never even bother with using these kind of glosses you get in palettes but these are so soft and moisturizing. They feel like tinted lip balm and they are actually super long wearing. Another great thing about these glosses is that they make my lips appear quite full. They are not plumpers and they do not sting or burn your lips, the formula just makes them appear fuller. Love these glosses to bits.

I don't really care for the primers in this palette. They do make the shadows more vibrant but they do not stop them from creasing on me, and I would not use them as concealers, they would settle into the lines under my eyes.

I actually thought I would like these eyeshadows more than I do. The quality is fine, they blend well and they feel good on the skin. I love beige and nude eyeshadow so why would I not absolutely fall head over heels in love with this palette?  Well I think it's because the shades although pretty and just the kinds I like, are too similar to eachother. Also there is no matte colours. I like my palettes to inspire me when I use them. Making me think about the different looks I could do. this just does not really inspire me. I think the colours could have been placed differently, maybe in groups of four shades you could use together or just placed with the light colours first and the dark last. I feel that they are just randomly thrown in there.

Man it can be hard to please me I know. The quality is great, the colours suit me very well and I can't really complain about not being able to use any of them. Still I'm not completely satisfied. Don't get me wrong I use this palette a lot and I think it's super for the price and I would recommend it if you are looking for nice neutrals, it would just have been better if it was more travel friendly and had some matte shades in there as well, along with maybe a black and a white.

So what do you guys think of this palette?
Please let me know if you would like to see swatches.
