Makeup Revolution Protection palette

Ever since Makeup Revolution launched these Protection palettes, I have been intriqued by them. Wouldn't it be nice to have almost all your face makeup packed into one palette? I mean all you need is a little Foundation and you are good to go! So I finally caved in, and got the "light" palette. There i also a "light/medium" "medium" and "medium/dark" palette, so there should be one for most skin tones.

Packaging: Sleek, black plastic palette. It seems sturdy and I'm definately pleased with the quality. Definately travel friendly as well.

You get 3 concealers, 1 face powder, 1 matte bronzer, 1 matte blush and 1 highlighting powder. So all you need is a little Foundation and some eye makeup, and maybe a lipstick and you have yourself some travel friendly makeup!

If you are very pale like me, you will be surprised to find that these concealers are super light. The lightest one is almost too light for me, just almost. The texture is super creamy, almost a little slippery, without feeling too greasy. They blend nicely into the skin, and does not leave me feeling oily. I really enjoy using these concealers, but if you have dry patches under the eyes, you may not enjoy these as much. They do tend to cling to any dryness, accentuating it quite a bit. But if you have normal to oily skin, these are great. I do recommend setting them, so they don't crease too much. They are not full coverage, but a good medium coverage, wich I prefer.

 

The face powder is not bad, but it's nothing ground breaking either. It sets my makeup nicely, it doesn't look too obvious, but it does not controll my oils or anything. But it's nice to have, I sometimes use it to blend my bronzer out.

 

The bronzer is matte, a little on the dark side for me and warm toned. This is definately not the ideal contouring powder, but I have contoured with it and it turned out nice enough to where I would do it Again. But it's definately better used, to warm up your complexion and add a little "faux tan" effect.

 

The matte blush is a nice neutral everyday pink. It blends easily and the pigmentation is just right. It could have been a little lighter, but that's just the personal opinion of a ghostly pale gal. I think this blush would suit everyone and I like that it's matte. It's easy to work with, and I really like it.

 

The highlighter is a great everyday highlighter. It's not extremely shimery or intense. It's quite subtle, yet gives me just the right amount of sheen without any shimmer or sparkle. Very beautiful pinky "lit from within" type of highlighter.

I'm very very pleased with this palette. I did not expect to like every single product in this kit. And although they are not worthy of Holy grail status, I am pleased with everything. All the products work for me, there is none of the Shades or textures that I can't use, and there is not a bad product in this kit. Ofcourse I have better setting powders, and other favorite concealers. But if I look at this palette as a whole, I definately think it's got a place in my collection, and in my travel purse.

Using every single product in the palette

 I find myself constantly reaching for this palette, it's just so convenient to have everything in the same place, and I definately recommend this! I would repurchase this in a Heart beat, and I can actually see myself hitting pan on this! wich doesn't happen to me very often. So big thumbs up from me.

Makeup Revolution ultra brow review

So today is not going to be about lipstick, but if you need your lipstick fix for the day, go check out my post about my "top 10 neutral lippies"

Being really pale, with cool toned blonde hair and invisible eyebrows has made it hard for me to find the perfect brow product. Most brands don't make my color, they all seem to be too dark, too warm or even too green. I just want a pale, cool toned brow please. But it's not easy to come by. So I was a Little hesitant when I decided to purchase this Makeup Revolution Ultra brow palette. Especially because it's called "fair to medium" and I need "ghostly to paper white" hehe. But I descided to give it a shot.

Packaging: Very comparable to the other palettes from Makeup Revolution, especially the protection palette. Fortunately it does say " bulletproof" on the front of the palette so I don't have to open it, to see what it is. Mine has a bit of an issue with closing properly, wich I actually think is caused by the brow pen. The problem goes away when I remove the brow pen from the palette. But the closing of the palette is still a little off. That's the first MUR palette of this kind I have had any troubles with though.

 

There are 3 different color options available, "fair to medium", "medium to dark" and "extra dark to Black" I don't really see an option for redheads, and I think their color options could be a little better.

 

You are getting quite the complete brow kit in this palette. 2 brow pomades, 4 brow powders, 1 highlighting concealer, 1 highlight powder, 1 brow pencil, 2 small brushes and a tweezer. All I really feel is lacking is a spooley brush to comb through the brows, I can't do my brows without one. But ofcourse I already have one, so it's not a major issue, it would have just been nice if it was included in the kit.

 

 

None of these shades, are an exact color match for me so I do have to mix and match a little bit, to get the righ shade for my brows. But the shade I end up with, is closer to perfect than any other brow product I have tried. So for me it's worth the extra steps.

 

I start by lining the brows with the pencil, then I color correct with the pomades. Mixing a tiny bit of the Brown into the blonde shade. Then I set it with the most cool toned powder and sometimes even go over it with the concealer to lighten it up. That seems to work and the result lasts all day without melting off or smearing. I don't find it to be as budge proof as my Benefit Gimme brow, but it still stays on all day without smudging.

 

I'm really pleased with this little kit. I have had no issues with the quality of any of these brow products. Even the little tweezer is nice, it's not the best tweezer ever, but it works. I really like the pomades, they are not waxy at all, but they still manage to keep my brows in place. So overall I'm very happy with this brow kit, and I would totally recommend it! You get a lot of different tones to mix and match with, but I do wish, that they would make a more cool toned version of this, as the end result does lean a little warmer, than I would like, but it's still the closest match I have been able to find so far. So yeah definately recommend, that you check this kit out. I know I will get a lot of use out of mine.

Makeup Revolution Mermaids forever palette

It seems that Makeup Revolution always have a new palette launching. And honestly, I was getting a Little bored with all the neutral palettes so when I saw this colorful palette, I knew I had to have it. I have been playing around with it for a while now, and tried to do a look for each color scheme in the palette, just to get a feel for it. So here we go.

Packaging: Just like all the other 32 shade palettes from MUR, sturdy, good quality with a great big mirror. I still get annoyed by the plastic inlay with the names on it. If I did not blog, it would have been tossed as soon as I first opened the palette.

Compared to the other 32 palettes I have (Flawless, flawless matte) this is not as great - quality wise. The colors are pretty, but some of them don't perform very well. The highlight Shades are not very good and the purples are really not very pigmented, even some of the blues are not up to the regular MUR standard. It seems that there is too much binder in the shadows, wich make them quite hard to swatch and to pick up with my brushes, it may just be my palette though, as I have seen some beautiful swatches in other bloggers reviews.

I do really like the peachy/orange row, the pinky/rusty row, the greens and the Browns and even the last row with the dark Shades. So it's pretty much just the highlights, the purples and the blues that do not perform very well. But I also feel that this palette needs some mattes. I don't wear straight up metallic or pearly eyeshadows all over the lid, I like to mix it up with some mattes. And while I do have the "flawless matte" palette, It would have been nice to see some colorful mattes.

Although I feel, that some of these Shades don't perform very well, I still really like the palette. It definately inspires me, to go out of my comfort zone, and try new eyeshadow looks. But it's definately more of an addition to your Collection, than a complete palette, as I would still need some mattes and a decent highlight shade to work with this palette.

 

You definately want to use a primer, or even a shadow base with these, to ensure that they stay vibrant for as long as possible. This has nothing to do with the MUR quality, I just find that vibrant colorful Shades, tend to fade more noticably than your neutrals. Especially reds.

So even though I had some negative Things to say, I really do still like this palette, and I have really enjoyed some of the looks I have done with it. I just want to be honest, and tell you about what I like and dislike, so you can make up your own mind about it. I do not regret buying it, and I will get a lot of use out of it, I really realy have been enjoying it, but I would enjoy it even more, if those purples and those highlight Shades werent pressed so hard in the pan, that nothing shows up on the brush.  

My favorite row, has to be the corals and oranges and the rusty reds and pinks. I used colors from those 2 rows to create the look above. I got away with this look without needing to add eyeshadows from other palettes. But in the look below, I did have to add highlights and a matte crease color + somme gold, to add contrast. But those bright green shadows are banging!

Makeup Revolution lip liners + Hypocrisy liners - All swatched!

I couldn't help myself. When I saw Makeup Revolution had launched lipliners and some new eye-and-lip liners I knew I had to get them all. There are also some regular eyeliners in the line, that I did not get, except from a basic brown. But I got all the lip liners and all the Hypocrisy liners as well. I believe that these are £1 a piece, but I bought them in the bundle packs on Makeup revolutions website wich saved me about £3. So I only payed about £10 for all these liners STEAL! Now my intention is to use all of them as lip liners, I will be testing the Hypocrisy liners out as eyeliners as well, but I bought them to use on the lips.

I can already tell, that I am not a fan of these, as eye-liners. I prefer to use them as lip-liners. I am wearing Baddest blue on my lips right now. And if you are not afraid of a Little color, you will love this. You can get away with using these on the waterline though, but they are not super pigmented or long lasting in the waterline. As lipliners, they have full on color and last quite well. I could have used a Black liner with this formulation though, I've been hooked on Black lips lately and I tohught it would have been an obvious color to have in this collection, as these are both eye-liners and lip-liners in one.

I have only played around with 3 of the colors as of now, and I can say that they are nice and pigmented. They are not overly creamy, but they are not extremely dry either. I would have preferred a Little more creaminess but for £1 each they are perfect! You can use them alone or paired with a lipstick, either way they last really well on the lips. In the Picture below I paired Rebel with the one and added a nude lipstick on top. I really like how it turned out. I feel that the Collection is missing a true red liner and maybe a mauve as well, but I hope Makeup Revolution come out with more shades some time in the future.

So that's my first impression of these new liners from Makeup Revolution. Overall I like them, and I feel like I got what I expected from a £1 liner. I probably won't use them on my eyes but as lip liners they are all FAB! So definately check both these Collections out if you are looking for a new lip color.

 

Makeup Revolution haul!

I purchased some Makeup Revolution goodies last week, and I was so excited when I got them this morning. I got a lot of new goodies, like the Hypocrisy liners and the lip liners, the Mermaid forever palette, Ultra brow palette, protection palette, naked chocolate palette and a few othe things. I can't wait to try everything out. I am actually already putting the liners to the test, and have spent several hours photographing and swatching.  

Please let me know, what you would like me to review first, and I will get started on those first. I am super excited about these liners so I may have to do a first impressions posts later today.

Makeup Revolution Ultra flawless matte palette

I've been really impressed by Makeup Revolutions eyeshadows and I've especially been loving their iconic matte palette. So When this 32 color - all matte palette was released, I knew I had to try it. I've been testing it out on and off for a few weeks now.

Price: £8 or about DKK 80 or about $12 at Mekup Revolutions website

Packaging: This is some heavy duty, good quality packaging. I can easily travel with it and I'm not worried about it breaking. You get a giant mirror, wich I know a lot of you like. What I don't care so much about, is how identical it is to the other 32 shade palettes in their line. Ofcourse they have to look pretty identical, but they could at least have the different names on the front of the palette. I keep both my ultra palettes stored in the same place and I always have to look at the back of the palettes to see wich one it is. So that's a little annoying. Also not a fan of the plastic insert with the shade names. I know I will misplace it at some point.

 

I love the texture of these mattes. There is not a single miss in this palette. The quality is very consistent and pigmentation is great on all of them. The shadows are super silky smooth and they are easy to use. I do think I prefer the Iconic mattes a Little more, I find those to be completely fool proof and super easy to blend. These do need a little more blending, but it's really not that big of a deal.

 

I did find these a Little hard to swatch, but I had no problems with applying them on my eyes. I LOOOVE the colors in this palette. Especially the 12 colors in the middle of the palette (the rosey taupey Shades)

I do think that some of the Shades are quite similar, when swatched they all look different, but in some cases it's just a very slight difference in tone. So I think I would have liked to see a little more variation, maybe a white shadow and some even paler pinks and nudes. I'm very pale myself, so I can actually only use the 3 first Shades as highlights, and they turn out very subtle. So I would have liked to see something even lighter. And I would have loved to see a really warm toned teddy bear brown as well.

 

I would recommend using a good eyeshadow primer with these. I used Benefit stay don't stray as I really like how it performs, especially with matte shadows. 



Overall I'm really pleased with this palette. Although I like the formula of the Iconic mattes better, I still love these eyeshadows. It's really impressive how good these mattes are. Considering the low Price, and the fact that you get 32 mattes I am impressed at the consistent quality. This is not just good for the Price, it would be amazing even if it was more expensive.

 If you are looking for a good all matte eyeshadow palette I would definately suggest you check this out! You won't regret it.

I ♡ Makeup Go to Hell palette review

I have had this palette for a few months now. I got it as a free gift with purchase, but never really got around to using before recently. I've tried quite a few of both the Makeup revolution and I♡Makeup palettes now and so far I've been pretty pleased.

Price: £3,99 or about $6 at Makeup Revolutions webshop

Packaging: While the design looks pretty neat, it's not super functional. I normally use a bigger eye brush for my lighter Shades and a smaller crease brush for darker Shades, so it puzzles me that the lightest Shades are the smallest in this palette.  It can be difficult to fit your brush into the small shadows, so that's a bit of a drawback for me. The outer packaging seems sturdy and travel friendly.

The quality is the typical quality that I have come to know and love from both Makeup revolution and  I ♡ Makeup. If you are not familiar with their shadows, I can tell you that pigmentation is great, they are easy to Work with and easy to blend. It's pretty amazing for the Price.

When all that's said, this palette did not wow me. Mostly because of the color selection. I'm more of a neutral/burgundy/rose gold kinda gal and I don't care for grey or black shadows all that much. All the Shades that I do like, are in the smallest pans, wich annoys me a lot.

I can't fault the palette for not containing the colors I like, not everyone wants 10.000 naked palette dupes. So I think this pretty much comes down to preference. If you like those dark smokey and Jewel toned shadows, then this would be a nice little palette to have. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of this palette, it's just not my type of shades.

With that being said, I would still recommend it to anyone who likes these types of colors, just keep in mind that it can be hard to get to the smaller shadows, it's not impossible but just a little tricky. The quality and staying power is good, and you can't beat the price. They also have a neutral version of this called "go to heaven" wich I think I would really like, but I have not tried it yet.
